Marketplace Cafe (MPC) Restaurant in Sedona VOC will host an evening of creativity and charity on June 26 featuring renown “speed painting” artist Douglas Rouse (see: https://rouse66.com/). This event will benefit local Sedona Charities Camp Soaring Eagle and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
If the Rouse name sounds familiar it should. Douglas Rouse is the son of the new MPC owner, Ken Rouse. Ken has retained all the things you love about MPC and is making the restaurant even better as he is much attuned to Customer needs and expectations.
Douglas Rouse’s career began in 1992 as an illustrator for German advertising agencies, set painter for music videos, commercial film companies and moved into creating large murals. Those large murals developed in 2005, inspired Rouse to create his first anamorphic, or 3D, chalk drawing on pavement at the Denver Chalk Art Festival and Douglas has been winning awards ever since.
Most recently, Douglas has entered the world of speed painting, a quick and explosive style of painting portraits in minutes, on stage, using just his fingers and paint (see: http://vimeo.com/20116192). It is in this medium that Rouse will be creating two “speed paintings”, one at 6pm and one at 7pm on Tuesday June 26th, 2012. These fabulous paintings will be auctioned off directly following their creation and all proceeds with be shared equally with the two charities.
